The Kings & Queens Begin Their Reign.

With the rumblings from the Kingdom of Zygethia losing supporters, it has highlighted two types of Kings (and one Queen!) that are establishing their kingdoms. Those who inherited their throne from the family, and those who are building a following to take a kingdom for their own by self-proclamation. In my most recent journey across the kingdoms, I was able to speak to many of the monarchs and discuss their roots & aspirations.

Nobles by Inheritance

EU – king dragor of nirath

What would you consider your biggest trial inheriting the throne you now hold?

Honestly, I’ve never had my eye on the throne. I was always aspiring to do things that are much more dangerous and adventurous, things that are unbefitting of kings. Yet here I am, sitting on this throne, and while I’ve had my doubts and concerns about retaining it or not, for selfish reasons. It was obvious for me, that the people needed a leader they can trust in, someone that does not deal in uncertainties, but provide a home everyone is proud to be part of. So my hardest trial is to be that leader, to gain the people’s trust, and finally give them what they seek.

What legacy would you like to be remembered by?

A nation unbreakable, that stands strong, united and prospers long after I am gone.

NA – King Miles & Queen Aelireen I of Dol Aderyn  (Later confirmed false.)

What would you consider your biggest trial inheriting the throne you now hold?

King – Unavailable for interview at time of publication.

Queen – My largest trial will be gaining the favour of my kingdom. I was nothing and now I am a queen. I am concerned that they will not see me as such because of my roots. Though I know this will not affect my husband’s views. I know he will love me whether my blood runs blue or not.

What legacy would you like to be remembered by?

King – Unavailable for interview at time of publication.

Queen – I would like to be remembered for helping this kingdom to flourish culturally and economically. I want to see my people cared for, content in life and in their home.

NA – King Cidolfus Orlandeau of arthos

What would you consider your biggest trial inheriting the throne you now hold?

I would say that my greatest trial would be to prove that I am a worthy leader. Gaining everyone’s trust is an important aspect of a leader.

What legacy would you like to be remembered by?

I hope that my greatest legacy will be a strong foundation for the kingdom to operate on for future generations. Without a great foundation, the kingdom will surely crumble.

Self Proclaimed Nobles

EU – King zultra of zygethia

What would you consider your biggest trial inheriting the throne you now hold?

The biggest hurdle is garnering the favor of the Dukes and there peers, once that happens then the King title is within grasp, but the Zygethian dream is contagious and many nobles support our cause.

What legacy would you like to be remembered by?

The legacy I want to leave is a prosperous, safe Zygethia. Economic stability, secure borders and a strong army to defend our interests.

NA – KING Phyllain of the Xeilias empire

What would you consider your biggest trial inheriting the throne you now hold?

Our largest trail is going to be consolidating local power by overthrowing the king that rules over us while defending ourselves from the the self [righteous] fools that do not understand true power.

What legacy would you like to be remembered by?

Creating a kingdom where those shunned by other cultures have the opportunity to advance themselves without fearing retribution for who they are.

Speaking with Phyllain was pleasant but also daunting as I translated through his thick accent in a non-native tongue. Please forgive my corrections to his spelling & translation.

One thing I have learned is that it’s a daunting journey to be nobility, sometimes with the weight of the world seemingly bearing down on your shoulders. Every decision marks an opportunity for disappointment or worship. Every new face could be the kiss of death, or perhaps a lifelong friend. Regardless of where nobility comes from the challenges are the same.

If the ring were offered to you, how would you leave your legacy on the kingdom?

Until next time –

Be Bold, Be Known,

Bradford J. Wilshire

  1. Greetings friends,

One can not but envision these Kings and a Queen as a proverbial pack of dogs and one solitary bitch all politely sniffing each other’s bums trying to get a scent of each other.

There is one dog in this pack that seems to wiggle his tail not concerned smelling the butts of his competition.

  2. Revelation

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again!

  3. Fyrr Deerdan, Commoner of The People

Those who have studied history know that every vile ruler has begun it’s legacy with promises of justice ans benevolence. History tells us how it goes down, all too often.

Kings and Queens, nobles or however else you fancy to call yourselves as you watch over the lands the people have allowed you to watch over, ponder and be afraid. The People are watching you.

No matter what banner you fly under or title you live by, one slip, one wrong, and we, The People, will hunt you down, cut the head of your realm and install a new ruler.

    You have been warned.

You have been warned, in my territory, you will be executed…

  4. For those who are curious, Phyllain isn’t actually foreign. He was just a bit drunk when he did the interview.

Which I guess is basically the same thing?
